The Seat of Will
The Seat of the Will comprises the Third Eye, the Gate of Perception, and the Throat, the Gate of Manifestation. These two points encompass the subtle structures that take in energetic information and output our desires to change the world around us. These two elements are potent together, allowing us to experience the subtle realities and the energy that permeates the world around us. This Seat of power is a necessary and integral part of how we engage with reality and where our intuition makes a home within.
The Gate of Perception
The Third Eye is a deeply saturated part of modern culture, especially that of psychic or spiritual enthusiasts and practitioners. Items of protection are often sold, such as the nazar or ‘evil eye’ which is blue, white, and black glass in concentric rings. This amulet or item of protection would absorb ill-intent or curses levied against you. But what does any of this have to do with the Third Eye and the Gate of Perception? The amulet is meant to catch the Will of someone who intends you harm or misfortune. It prevents it by reminding you that you are protected. Believe in the amulet enough and no negative energy can penetrate that belief as your Will is stronger than theirs. Eye motifs and the center forehead have been multicultural points of fascination within several human cultures and for good reason.
Our psychic perception is with us from the moment we are born until the moment we pass on. The average person can go through life and never acknowledge the awareness of where their intuition may be centered. They may also never intentionally engage with their psychic perception, but it is there and informing their day-to-day lives. Ever walk into a room and have an awareness that there had been some tension in the space not long ago? You may enter an office and have an uncanny sense that two co-workers were just laughing moments before. Better yet, have you ever gone into a physical space and just caught some sort of vibe, whether positive or negative? These small instances are your psychic senses at work — your intuition.
The Gate of Perception, located at your Third Eye which can be found in the upper head area, often indicated as somewhere between the eyes, is a gate that we can intentionally open, focus, and hone to develop our senses further. We are not born with a common psychic language. This means that our intuition often develops by pairing with one of our five main senses: sight, hearing, touch, scent, and tasting (although psychic tasting, in my years of working with clients, seems to be one of the rarer senses and probably for good reason.) You might have heard of the ‘clairs’ and these refer to the psychic counterparts of our senses. You can read more about psychic language in our previous blog post, guest written by Miranda ‘Frick’ Harrel.
The Gate of Manifestation
The Gate of Manifestation is the energy center of our Throat. In modern Western practices, is often associated with a light blue color and is associated with communication. Other systems, such as in Hindu practices, it is called Vishuddha or ‘pure’ or ‘purification.’ Within Abrelian energy work, it represents the manifestation of the Will or our Voice. It is how we communicate our thoughts and feelings while also connecting with others. How we speak, the confidence of our voice, and the conviction of our words are all full of power.
We cultivate our voice over our lifetime. As children, we learn to speak and articulate while understanding tone. We learn manners. We come to learn how to communicate our wants and needs. As we grow, we quickly learn to externalize, giving thanks or generating our own words of kindness for others. Our relationship with communication is valuable and important. Even those who learn sign languages engage this energy center (and ASL speakers often also have strong hand-to-throat connections because of this.) As language is so much a part of our lives, its cultivation as we grow is imperative. Early childhood traumas, parents who minimized a child’s expression, or even social pressures at school can play a large role in our Throat development. Never fear, though, this energy center is one of the best at strengthening with healthy, personal growth. By healing the communicative wounds of our past, we can embolden our voice and return power to it. Speaking with energy. Manifesting our desires.
Manifestation is important and it isn’t limited to only some forms of spirituality or religion. When we pray, we manifest our hopes. When we speak those prayers out loud, we pour energy through our mouths into the very air. It is energy and it is change. Speaking wishes out loud can be very powerful. Alternatively, speaking ill intent and voicing paranoia can also manifest our fears into reality as well. My mother, like many, preached when I was small, “If you can’t say anything nice? Don’t say anything at all.” And this is only true if you wish to not put out into the world the manifesting power of your fears. This practice can also be taken too far causing individuals to begin to not express themselves for fear of manifesting something negative. The extreme can also stifle your voice and restrict the flow of power to your Throat. Keep in mind that balance is key. Expression is necessary.
